What Toby did next...

Here are some pictures of Toby Stephens as General Custer in a new production by the BBC, yet to be broadcast.

What a lovely moustache, though it's not as verdant as the one he has in "The Rising".

I don't know what to say about the hair, I really don't. I'm not digging it.

It's nice to see he has taken some sartorial advice from Jane, and fastened a lovely red scarf around his neck, although he's gone one further and made it flouncy. Though I do wonder at the practicality of wearing a red scarf and going into battle!

Sorry anon, no sightings as yet, looks like the only promo we're going to get is "the one to watch" sting before some programmes on Sunday, *shakes fist at BBC* and sobs....

Upon his elevation to brigade command prior to Gettysburg, Custer radically changed his own uniform which includes the red scarf. His Michigan Brigade wore red scarfs to emmulate their commander.

Custer would wear the regulation officer uniform when posing for hsi wedding picture. I think he bgean wearing the buckskins after he took command of the 7th Cavalry in 1866.

Thank Uncle Mario, I know nothing about Custer. But I was just comparing the actors scarf to the scarf his co-star wore in a previous programme.

Wow, where did you get those pics at? I worked on that shoot as a matter of fact, I am the one who shot Custer. I rigged Toby with the squib and shot him. This was all shot in Wall, South Dakota this past summer. If you need proof I'll send you the pic on my cameraphone that I have that clearly displays Toby lying on the ground. It's so funny to see how much interest there is for this production.

Hi Anonymous,

Thanks for commenting. I got the pics from a forum somewhere, I can't quite remember where now!

How exciting, you shot Custer! My life is not quite as exciting; if you did want to share the pic of Custer, please feel free to email to me, my email is in my profile. I'd love to see it!

Thanks and take care!
